Pine Needle Recycling ProgramApr 16, 2009
IVGID Pine Needle Recycling Programs scheduled to open May 1, 2009. Recycle your pine needles to support erosion control projects, while reducing waste disposal to the landfill.
Pine Needle Drop-off Program: The collected pine needles are used for local erosion control projects, making it important to recycle only clean pine needles. No pine cones, trash, branches, or stumps are accepted. Please empty pine needles out of bags when dropping off at the site. Curbside Pine Needle Recycling Collection: The curbside pine needle recycling collection week is May 25 - 29, 2009. Incline Village and Crystal Bay’s FREE Curbside Pine Needle Recycling Collection Service will be offered the last week of May. During this week, residents are able to place up to 6 bags of pine needles curbside, on their normal trash collection day, to be collected separately for recycling. Note: Your pine needles may not be collected on your trash day but should be collected by the end of the week.
To assist collection, residents are being encouraged to use clear plastic bags for pine needles, or if using black bags, to label the bags for recycling. Labels for designating pine needle bags are available at the IVGID Public Works (1220 Sweetwater Rd.) and Administration Offices (893 Southwood Blvd.).
If you have more than 6 bags of needles at any time, we suggest you arrange for recycling drop-off at Diamond Peak. Please arrange with your landscaper or property management company to take pine needles from your property to the Diamond Peak drop-off location. Large piles of bags left curbside will be collected and the account will be charged $2.22 per extra bag/can. A special pickup service is also available by calling Waste Management at 775-831-2971. |
