Winter Trash and Recycling Tips

Jan 8, 2008

Trash service is provided every day of the year in Incline Village/Crystal Bay. Inclement weather can impact your service if the driver cannot access your refuse.

In order for Waste Management to safely provide uninterrupted collection services, please follow these suggestions:

1)      Make sure the driver can access your bear box, trash cans or recycling crates. Snow must be removed from pickup locations, including clearing the doors to bear boxes and pathways leading to cans.

2)      Never place trash out before your assigned service day. If you are visiting, or a seasonal resident, the transfer station (at 1076 Hwy. 28) will accept recycling, and 2 bags of household trash, for free, 7 days a week.

3)      Place trash cans out for collection, on the day of service only, after 7 am. The bears are in light hibernation, and not for long!

4)      Save newspaper and office paper recycling for clear weather days, or take materials to the drop-off at the transfer station, 7 days a week. If the papers get wet, they don’t get recycled.

How do you think IVGID is handling the bear issue?
