Curbside Recycling, Drop Off Center & Business Recycling

Free curbside recycling is offered to Incline Village residents every other week. Click here for a flyer on what is recyclable.

4 Curbside Pine Needle Collections for 2008!

In order to improve service, the pine needle recycling curbside program for 2008 features 4 collection dates, one each month during the summer season. You can place 6 bags or fewer, of clean pine needles for recycling, on your normal trash collection day, during the last week of each month. Pine needles placed out during other weeks will be collected, but landfilled.

May 26 - 30
June 30 - July 4
July 28 - August 1
August 25 – 29

Designate the bags for recycling by using clear bags or attaching one of the enclosed labels to the bags. Place the bags away from your regular trash. Please, we can only recycle clean pine needles. No trash, pinecones, branches or stumps! Limit is 7 cans or bags total (of trash and pine needles) curbside each week. (Example: If you have 1 can of trash, you can put out 6 bags of pine needles; If you have 2 cans of trash you can put out 5 bags of pine needles).

If you have more than 6 bags, please call Waste Management for a special pickup at 775-831-2971, or arrange for drop-off at Diamond Peak.  Please tell your landscaper to take bags from your property to the drop-off location, not to leave bags at the curb.

Labels were be mailed in the April Public Works utility bill flyer. Additional labels for pine needle bags are available at: IVGID Public Works (1220 Sweetwater Rd.), IVGID Administration Offices (893 Southwood Blvd.) and online at: www.ivgid.org/conservation

Curbside Recycling FAQs

What items can be recycled curbside?
- Any color glass bottle or jar. Please rinse and discard the caps and only bottles - no other glass.
- Any Plastic Bottles and Milk Jugs. Please rinse, discard the caps and flatten if possible. Bottles only PLEASE! No containers including yogurt cups and margarine tubs, etc.
- Paper - all colored "office" paper (no construction paper please!), envelopes, clear window envelopes, books (minus the covers) and fax paper. Make sure these don't get wet! During inclement weather, hold your papers until the next collection. Put your paper in a plastic grocery sack along side your crates or containers, and they will be collected as well!
- Newspaper & Magazines are allowed within the office paper. Again, do not leave out during inclement weather.  Place in a brown paper grocery bag on top of crates.
- Aluminum cans. Please rinse and crush, so the recycling truck can pack more in and make fewer trips. This economizes fuel and saves time!
- Tin soup cans. Don't worry about the labels just rinse them out.

How do I recycle cardboard?
Cardboard may be dropped off at the Waste Management transfer station during regular business hours. Only corrugated cardboard is recyclable. No paperboard (i.e. cereal boxes, pasta boxes, egg cartons) is accepted.
